IEDR congratulates the winners of the Golden Spider Awards
20th November 2009 - IEDR is very pleased to sponsor Ireland's Golden Spider Awards again in 2009. The winner of the award sponsored by the IEDR (Best Education, Research & Training Website) was http://www.primaryscience.ie. "If measures of a good web site are that it holds your interest and makes you want to return on a regular basis to find out more, then this is definitely one of the best. These are commendable goals to strive for whatever the speciality but when the subject matters are maths, science and engineering, and the target market is schoolchildren, then you have to take your hats off to this division of Forfas for what they have achieved". The eircom Golden Spider Awards are an annual event honouring Irish individuals and organisations for their outstanding achievements online and celebrating the successes of the Irish internet and digital media.
The awards not only reward Irish businesses and community organisations but also individuals for their creativity and innovation. The eircom Golden Spiders provide an important opportunity to recognise and showcase online excellence and are considered an important benchmark for distinction and merit in web-based business strategies. This year's 20 categories range from "Internet Hero" to the overall "Grand Prix", acknowledging the achievements across a wide range of industries - including Media, Entertainment, Sports & Leisure, Finance, Retail, Professional Services, Travel, Tourism & Hospitality and e-Business.
Although the eircom Golden Spiders have a strong business slant, the awards also recognise the importance of promoting internet usage within the community. The Golden Spider Awards are managed by Business & Finance Media Group, publisher of Business & Finance and Magill magazine.
