Domain Name Registration > Deletions

Removal of a domain from the IE zone is non-reversible so therefore send the deletion request with care. When a domain is deleted it becomes available for registration to another party.

Deletions will not be accepted by telephone or any format other than as outlined here:

The On-line Deletion form must be completed to activate a deletion and authorisation from the administrative contact submitted by fax as per below.

The reasons you would delete a domain name include -

• It is no longer required;
• You are no longer eligible to hold the name;
• You can no longer pay for the name.

Authorisation by fax for On-Line Deletion: In addition to the form, deletions require authorisation from the current administrative contact for the domain in question, and will not be effected in its absence. Supply a signed fax on headed paper from the current administrative contact authorising the deletion to be made. Authorisation will only be accepted by fax to (+353 1) 2300 365.

A member of our Registration Services team will be in touch within 2 working days either indicating acceptance or detailing any problems with the deletion request.
